LEnSE - Methodology Development towards a Label for Environmental, Social and Ecolomic Buildings
LEnSE is a European research project that responds to the growing need in Europe for assessing a building’s sustainability performance. The project draws on the the existing knowledge available in Europe on building assessment methodologies. LEnSE main objective is to develop a methodology for the assessment of the sustainability performance of existing, new and renovated buildings, which is broadly accepted by the European stakeholders involved in sustainable construction.

4th March 2008: Strategic Workshop "A European label for Sustainable Buildings" - Video streaming
The Strategic Workshop "A European Label for Sustainable Buildings", took place on 4 March 2008 and was organised in the framework of the LEnSE project. The aim of this strategic workshop was to demonstrate to policy makers and industry representatives the importance and advantages of an integrated approach towards sustainable construction. The importance of this integrated approach has been recently emphasised by the publication of the Lead Market Initiative by the European Commission (COM(2007) 860 final), in which Sustainable Construction is selected as one of the lead markets for Europe to put into practice the Lisbon objectives of a knowledge-based economy and its consequent Innovation Strategy for the European Union.
The workshop (programme) attracted a large presence of European Commission representatives from all DGs directly or indirectly affected by sustainable construction, policy makers from European, national and regional level, high-level industry representatives and their European federations, but also tool developers of existing assessment methods.
Presentations given by speakers at the Strategic workshop are now available below.
As a response to the large number of interested parties and the limit capacity of the workshop, a video-streaming of the workshop is available on-line.
